Since the beginning of Mary Robinson coming on the scene
30 years ago, she was hailed by all the media; Ireland saw in her a chance to show
to the entire world how progressive she was by electing her; a woman, as president.
She became synonymous with progression, women's rights, equality, modernity,
anti church, pro abortion.
She was revered, and I think it is still the case, by many Irish people.
"She is great" they all said, "she is a great president" they repeated. Why?
For the simple reason that she was a woman!!
The same reasoning that many used regarding Obama, when he became a
presidential candidate.
"Fantastic! We want him! He will be great, he is great!" they said.
Why? Because he was black!
That is just a pathetic reason, it is also racist and sexist to
make a judgement based on the colour or gender of a person.
And as Kamala Harris is both a woman and black,
it goes without saying that she must be fantastic!
As for me, Mary Robinson always left me cold, she never once moved
my heart or inspired me in any way.
I always found her haughty, self important, dry, predictable
and extremely rigid, which was also a striking feature of her body movements.
Of course she is happy to see the likes of Kamala Harris as vice president in
the States, and of course she was delighted with the prominent role that
Michelle Obama had as First Lady to be able to promote abortion as a desired,
responsible and even respectable thing to do.
These 3 women all seems to have the same agenda, but it is a narrative that
they impose on the world, they overstep and abuse their privileged positions.
If they stop their indoctrination, they will see that women, and people in general,
are able to find their own values and come to their own conclusions.
